Labor Laws Of The Republic Of Korea

This book is an introduction in English to the labor laws of the Republic of Korea. My co-¬authors and I wrote this book to help non¬-Korean speaking people and foreign corporations understand how Korean labor law is interpreted and applied in practice.

Before the release of this book, there was a dearth of publications that addressed the basics of Korean labor law in a comprehensive manner. Of course, one could always refer to The Statutes of the Republic of Korea, a book published by the Korea Legislation Research Institute that contains English translations of certain portions of Korean labor law. Up until now, however, it has been difficult to find any one book in English that renders interpretations of Korean labor law and provides careful analysis of how it is applied in practice.

It would indeed be a great honor if this book can serve as a means by which people can increase their awareness of Korean labor law and how it is used in everyday, real¬ life situations. ~Ji-hyung Kim
